Who we are
Budz is a budget planner for iPhone made by Null Machine (“Budz”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Budz app and this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
If anything here is unclear, write to us at contact@nullmachine.in.
What we collect
Your account
- Email address, if you sign in with email. We send a one-time code to it so you can sign in without a password.
- Guest accounts have no email. You can add one later to keep your budget when you change phones.
- A name, if you choose to add one.
Your budget
Everything you type into Budz so it can plan for you:
- Your paycheck amount, how often you’re paid, your payday and your currency.
- Wallets and their balances, categories and planned amounts.
- Transactions (amount, category, wallet, date and any note you add) and recurring bills.
- Goals, including their names, notes, targets, dates and chosen cover image.
- Shared budgets, including the email addresses of people you invite.
- Your onboarding answers (for example, who you’re planning for), reminder settings, whether Face ID lock is on, and your subscription status.
Diagnostics and usage
- Crash and performance reports: when something goes wrong we receive technical details such as the error, app version, device model and iOS version.
- Session replays: a recording of how the app is used, including the screens you visit, your taps, app events (such as finishing onboarding or starting a subscription) and details of the app’s network requests, with sign-in tokens removed. Replays are linked to your account ID and, if you have one, your email. Because they show what was on screen, they can include budget details you’ve entered. We use them only to find and fix problems and to improve the app.
What we don’t collect
- Bank logins, bank account numbers or card numbers. Budz never connects to your financial accounts.
- Payment details. Subscriptions are processed by Apple; we only learn whether your subscription is active.
- Face ID data. Face ID is handled by iOS; Budz is only told whether unlocking succeeded.
- Your location, your contacts or advertising identifiers.
How we use it
- To run Budz for you: work out your plan and safe-to-spend, and keep your budget in sync across your devices.
- To run shared budgets with the people you invite.
- To schedule the reminders you turn on. These are scheduled on your iPhone; we don’t send push notifications from a server.
- To sign you in, keep your account secure and prevent abuse.
- To find and fix bugs and make the app better.
- To unlock Budz Plus when you subscribe, and to answer your messages.
- To meet legal obligations.
We don’t sell your personal information, we don’t share it for advertising, and we don’t use your budget to show you ads.
Ask Budz
Ask Budz works out its answers on your iPhone, using the budget data already in the app. Your questions and its answers aren’t sent to us or to any outside AI service.
Where it’s stored
Your budget is saved on your iPhone so Budz works offline. A copy is synced to our database provider, Supabase, so your budget is there when you sign in on another device and so people you share a budget with see the same numbers.
Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections. Each account can only reach its own budgets and the budgets shared with it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and budget for as long as your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account and synced budget data from our active systems within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep something longer.
Crash reports and session replays are kept for a limited time by our providers and then deleted automatically.
Your choices and rights
- See and export your data: export your transactions to CSV any time from Profile → Export data.
- Correct it: edit anything directly in the app.
- Erase it from your phone: Profile → Reset → Erase everything signs you out and removes your data from this iPhone.
- Delete your account: to delete your account and the synced copy of your budget, email contact@nullmachine.in from the address on your account and we’ll take care of it.
- Reminders: turn them on or off in Profile → Reminders, or in iOS Settings.
- Leave a shared budget: ask the budget’s owner to remove you, or contact us.
If you’re in the EEA, UK or Switzerland
We use your information to provide the service you asked for (performance of a contract), to keep Budz secure and working well (our legitimate interests), to meet legal obligations, and with your consent where the law requires it. You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, or object to how we use it, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
If you’re in California or another US state with a privacy law
You can ask to know what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. We don’t sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we won’t treat you differently for using your rights.
To make any request, email contact@nullmachine.in. We may need to confirm it’s you first.
Children
Budz isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
International transfers
Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses to protect information that leaves your region.
Security
We protect your information with encrypted connections, access controls that keep each account’s budgets separate, and limits on who can access our systems. You can also lock Budz with Face ID. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your iPhone protected too.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll also let you know in the app before it takes effect.
